Catalyst Event: Celebrating the Conclusion of Cohort 2
After six months of refining pitches, engaging with investment experts, and preparing for investor conversations, the Catalyst Event marked the successful conclusion of Cohort 2 of the Fusion Connect with Capital programme. A programme by the UK Space Agency, delivered by Entrepreneurial Spark in collaboration with Exotopic, this event was not just a celebration but a crucial moment for ventures to set their next steps toward securing investment.
A Day of Insights, Connections, and Forward Planning
The event kicked off with a networking lunch, allowing entrepreneurs, investment experts, and programme partners to connect in an informal setting.
Next came the Entrepreneur Panel, where Simon Reid (former Managing Director of the UK branch of D-Orbit), Kristina Pereckaite (Founder and Managing Director of South East Angels), and Andy Grey (CEO of Exotopic) shared their expertise. The panel provided invaluable insights into the fundraising landscape, addressing key challenges and opportunities for early-stage ventures. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and gain first-hand knowledge from industry leaders who understand what it takes to navigate the investment journey successfully.
The afternoon sessions focused on practical learning and tailored support. During the Best Practice Roundtable, participants discussed strategies for refining their investment approach, followed by 1:1 coaching sessions with investment experts, including Kristina Pereckaite, Shruti Iyengar, Andy Grey, Jodie Faitakis, Ashleigh Dinter and Jo Nisbet. These personalised sessions helped ventures gain clarity on their next steps, while parallel peer discussions fostered valuable connections within the cohort.
In the Forward Planning session, each venture identified three tangible actions to advance their investment journey. By reflecting on their progress and defining clear next steps, participants left the event with a renewed sense of direction and purpose.
Entrepreneurs Pioneering the Future of Space
Cohort 2 consisted of a diverse group of entrepreneurs, each tackling unique challenges in the space sector. From developing cutting-edge satellite technologies to innovative data solutions, these ventures have demonstrated resilience, creativity, and ambition. Throughout the programme, they worked closely with industry experts to refine their business models and investment strategies, ensuring they are well-positioned to attract funding and scale their impact.
Among the cohort members were ventures focused on Earth observation, in-orbit services, propulsion systems, and AI-driven space solutions. Each entrepreneur brought a distinct perspective to the table, and the collaborative nature of the programme allowed them to learn not only from experts but also from one another. The sense of camaraderie and shared purpose was evident throughout the Catalyst Event, reinforcing the strength of the Fusion Connect with Capital community.
Celebrating Success and Looking Ahead
The day concluded with celebratory drinks at a nearby pub, offering a relaxed space for participants to reflect on their journey and strengthen the connections they built throughout the programme.
Cohort 2, made up of ventures committed to shaping the future of the space sector, has demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and ambition. As they move forward beyond Fusion Connect with Capital, we are excited to see them put their learnings into action and take the next steps toward securing investment.
Congratulations to all participants—we look forward to seeing your continued success!
